I enjoyed reading these books and hope more are released as sets. Fun, quirky characters and an interesting story line make these books perfect for a lazy afternoon read.
I enjoyed reading about Rachael and Pippa. Started reading book 11 first now I'm going back to read the first books. Really enjoy the Bakery Detecties cozy mysteries. Try them and see for yourself.
Want quick reads, fun who-done-it's, and interesting characters? Then these stories are right up your alley. They hold your interest as you are hoping to figure out the culprit before Rachael does. Very enjoyable.
This series is an easy read with interesting story lines and a few twists. Rachel and Pippa are well deveoped characters. There were unfortunately a few spelling mistakes and story inconsistencies but they didn't really affect the books but made you wonder if what you read was correct. I'm definitely going to get the next books in the series.
I read a lot of cozy mysteries. And, I have read a lot of cozy mysteries having to do with chefs. I wish I hadn't read this one. From the beginning I found the main character, Rachael, to be immature and annoying snob. She has a "thing" about the mass manufactured bakery down the street and blames them for all her woes. Going out to prove that they are the "evil" big producer, she goes after evidence, getting herself and her friend in trouble. She goes on to do the police department's job poorly, jumping to conclusions without any evidence even though she has been warned away by the hunky cop she crushes on. After putting up with all of this, toward the end of the first "book", really more of a novella, At 26% I started noting multiple plot issues. Through the window of his business, another merchant not only sees a person using their personal computer, but can also read what he is writing. Is he sitting in the window? Her friend reports that, during a festival, she sees someone with a piece of pie from Rachael's stand, then throwing the cake away...? Then her friend tells her that the now prime suspect must have over heard her saying something when, just the page before she admitted to telling him the information. She says that another woman seemed "alive for now" when there was no evidence preceding that rash statement that anything was wrong. The police say they suspected the perpetrator of a crime from the beginning, but there is no evidence cited for that supposition. In the end she states that she is good at being a mystery solver and maybe she should do it as a new career. Heaven help us!! Stay away - I will not be reading the other two novellas in this group. Waste of time and money.
Once again I have to give Credit to the writer for writing a clean book.Thanks with no sex ,no fighting ,no bad words, no killings just fen to read
All the usual characters (suspects?) are here. Most notably our bake shop owner, her younger, slightly scatterbrained and chronically unemployed assistant, and a handsome police detective. The plots of each story are different, all centered around the small town. MOST of the crimes involve at least one murder. PROBLEM these novels my be habit-forming!
